Luibeilt Lodge

A former deer stalking lodge, now in ruins, Luibeilt Lodge is about 10 miles (16km) on foot from Kinlochleven.

The building had been adapted for use as a bothy at one stage and in the winter of 1973 two young climbers who had come to explore the Lochaber hills experienced a frighening series of events in this remote bothy.

The men, whose story has been recounted on BBC Radio 4's Uncanny show, were told there were people living off-grid at Luibeilt, but it remained open and welcoming to visitors. When they arrived, however, it was locked. They went off climbing and returned at around 9pm in the pitch dark, and managed to gain entry through a window. To say it was an unsettling night is an understatement...
