Anyone who has wandered a little beyond the Applecross Inn and the south end of Shore Street might well have seen large flat sloping rocks in the shore heading to Milltown. These rocks were an important feature in olden days for one, or maybe two, reasons.
First, when sailors and fishermen were navigating, these rocks would have been a useful landmark, especially as they are so visible from the sea. Secondly, they could have been a useful venue for repairing sails. No-one is really sure which version provides the name Leac nan Seòl, slab of the sails. But the place holds a special attraction as a nice spot to take photographs, or to just chill out by the sea.
