The carvings around the cloisters at Iona Abbey were carved between 1967 and 1997 by Chris Hall. He would often eat his lunch in the cloisters.
Every day he would leave a few crumbs and a little blackbird and robin would visit him, so he decided to add them to the carvings in the cloisters of the church. There is a carving of the baptism of Jesus with a little blackbird and robin included in the scene.
