A creepy encounter on the Crinan Canal

One local resident tells a story about her father and mother who were walking along the banks of the Crinan canal one evening when they passed a tall elegantly dressed man. This man was wearing a top hat, white scarf and white gloves- not what you would expect to see at that time of day on the canal path. Her father said good evening to this very tall, elegant man in the passing, but the man didn't acknowledge them. He said to his wife, "I'm got to speak to him again" but when he turned round to tackle the chap for his bad manners there was no one there! Creepy or what!
